NEURODIVERGENT-AFFIRMING CARE

For the ones who’ve always felt "off," "too much," or "not enough."

This practice was built with your brain in mind. Many of my clients are neurodivergent — and have spent years misdiagnosed, masked, or misunderstood. Especially women, AFAB individuals, high achievers, and people of color who were praised for their intellect and sensitivity, but quietly overwhelmed and dismissed by biased systems. This is a space where your nervous system isn’t pathologized. It’s honored.

What Neurodivergence Often Looks Like — and Why It Gets Missed

ADHD isn’t always hyper

  • Sometimes it looks like mental fog, paralysis, or feeling like your brain is underwater.

  • Sometimes it’s losing everything, forgetting everything, and running late despite trying so hard.

  • Often it’s being told you’re lazy, scattered, or underachieving — when in reality, your brain is just overloaded.

Autism doesn’t always look like the stereotype

  • Some of my clients are deeply empathetic, verbal, and emotionally attuned.

  • Others are social and charismatic, but go home drained, anxious, or shut down.

  • Many have been told they’re too blunt, intense, or rigid — or that they’re "not friendly enough" — when really, they’re just being real.

These presentations are especially missed in women and AFAB clients who have spent decades camouflaging.

Common Stories I Hear

  • "I should be able to just do it."

  • "Why am I so lazy?"

  • "I keep letting people down."

  • "People think I’m rude, but I’m just being honest."

  • "Everyone else seems to have some manual for life that I missed."

If you’ve internalized these messages, it’s not your fault. You’ve likely spent years adapting to environments that weren’t built for your brain. You’ve tried harder than anyone realizes. And you deserve care that actually sees that.

Not Just Anxiety or Depression

Many of my clients have been previously diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder or Major Depression — but their distress is rooted in something deeper:

  • Constant worry about forgetting, messing up, or falling behind

  • Shame from struggling with motivation or follow-through

  • Feeling broken because they can't meet expectations or tap into their potential

What’s often missed? ADHD. Autism. Executive function challenges. Sensory overload. Nervous system dysregulation.

This isn’t about willpower. It’s about working with — not against — the way your brain actually functions.
